This album is inspired by the lives of social change visionaries Jean Toomer, Nina Simone, Pauli Murray, Virginia Woolf and Terry Burke, all of whom accessed a state of transcendence in the face of adversity by seeking refuge in nature, the arts or spirituality. It combines sculpted live recordings of noise and nature with instrumental music, electronic sound design, and spoken word poetry.
